Washington
Class 13 Server Permit

Class 13 permit (18 to 20 years of age). This permit allows you to:

  • Take alcohol orders
  • Deliver alcoholic beverages
  • Pour alcohol into a customer’s glass at the customer’s table
  • Sell alcohol
  • You are eligible to upgrade to a Class 12 permit once you turn 21

Washington
Class 12 Mixologist Permit

Class 12 permit (21 and over). This permit allows you to:

  • Perform all the duties included in the Class 13 permit
  • Mix drinks
  • Draw alcohol from a tap
  • Conduct alcohol tastings
  • Manage the establishment

In 1995, Washington Legislature passed a new law to institute the Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) program. This program was founded on the conclusion that educating alcohol servers promotes public health and safety and is in the best interest of the citizens of Washington State.
